Nicole Richie is no doubt one of the best dressed on the Hollywood circuit and so it’s fitting that the fashionista, who’s never afraid to speak her mind, is a mentor on NBC’s new show “Fashion Star”. In case you missed the premiere on March 13th, “Fashion Star” is a reality television series that focuses on fashion design (similar to Project Runway) and is hosted by supermodel Elle Macpherson. The contestants compete with each other to win a multi-million dollar prize and the chance to launch their collections in three of America’s largest retailers: Macy’s, H&M and Saks Fifth Avenue. Each week, the reps from each of these three major clothing stores may or may not make an offer to each of the designers to buy the looks presented during the episode. Taking the show to a whole new level, the designs which have been purchased are then offered for sale to the public immediately after each show! Nicole Richie, Jessica Simpson, and John Varvatos act as mentors for the contestants.
The premiere party for the “Fashion Star” was held at Macy’s Herald Square in New York City on Tuesday night on the same day as the pilot aired – on March 13. Nicole looked stunning, as usual, in a silky yellow gown designed by Julien Macdonald, shoes by Casadei, and paired with a clutch by Jimmy Choo and jewelery from Nicole’s House of Harlow 1960 collection.
